BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN II, FIELD SERVICE, TRUMBULL, CT

NovaMed Corporation is seeking a full time Field Service BMET proficient in repairing and maintaining a variety of complex medical equipment. The Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for providing intermediate-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance on basic to complex biomedical equipment and instrumentation, and the associated support systems used in healthcare delivery. BMET II personnel are expected to consistently maintain effective relationships with co-workers, client and vendor staff, and the general public. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP! Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Performing routine repair & preventive maintenance on biomedical equipment ranging from simple to complex
  • Inspecting, testing, calibrating equipment, devices & systems – including life support equipment
  • Running diagnostic programs and interpreting results
  • Performing safety tests to ensure patient and staff safety related to electrical/mechanical hazards
  • General troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Preparing timely and accurate documentation 
  • Following policies, procedures, protocols, regulatory standards & codes
  • Maintaining excellent customer & vendor relationships 
  • Entering data and producing reports in computerized systems
  • Providing verbal and written reports to management and client
  • Demonstrating and explaining appropriate operation of equipment to client personnel
  • Maintaining equipment and documentation to meet Joint Commission and other regulatory standards
  • Assisting with maintenance of accurate equipment inventories 

Your resume should demonstrate your qualifications:

  • AS Degree: Electronics/Biomedical/Related OR Relevant Military Training 
  • BMET II (minimum) experience – including 3 or more years working as BMET with increasing responsibilities in hospital or field service environment, on a variety of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of basic electronic principles and ability to interpret technical diagrams for a variety of devices
  • Understanding of basic anatomy and physiology related to functions of biomedical equipment
  • Good English language skills to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external staff
  • Basic PC software proficiency (MS OUTLOOK,WORD, EXCEL preferred)
  • Good references and demonstrated quality customer service skills
  • General knowledge of Joint Commission standards, other regulations, healthcare safety protocols, etc. 
  • History of attention to detail and on-time paperwork completion
  • Ability to work successfully independently, and to perform effectively as a team-member

In addition, this position requires: 

  • Ability to report reliably to work, with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and ability to build/maintain good internal and external relationships 
  • Reliable personal transportation, with appropriate level of insurance for business use
  • Good driving record 
  • Good manual dexterity & hand-eye coordination to work with small parts, tools, etc.
  • Color vision to determine wiring and other safety coding
  • Ability to lift, move up to 35-50 lbs. equipment, tools, etc.
  • Able to provide documentation of current authorization to work in the United States

BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN III, STARTING LOCATION: Westchester County, New York

The Biomedical Equipment Technician III is responsible for the service and routine maintenance of a wide variety of biomedical equipment, working under general supervision of a higher level employee.

The Biomedical Equipment Technician III is responsible for providing intermediate-level experience in the repair, calibration, and maintenance on basic to complex biomedical equipment and instrumentation, and the associated support systems used in healthcare delivery. BMET III personnel are expected to consistently maintain effective relationships with co-workers, client and vendor staff,and the general public. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP! General Duties:

  • Performing routine repair and maintenance on a variety of medical equipment at a site and satellite facilities
  • Troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
  • Inspecting, testing and calibrating equipment
  • Performing post-repair testing to confirm equipment function
  • Assisting with equipment inventory verification
  • General troubleshooting to maintain equipment in satisfactory and safe operating condition
  • Preparing timely and complete documentation
  • Following client and NovaMed policies & procedures
  • Complying with standard protocols, regulatory standards & codes
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A.S. Degree – Electronics, Biomedical, or related – OR equivalent military training
  • Knowledge of electronic principles and devices
  • Basic computer proficiency (data entry & word processing)
  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology
  • Prior satisfactory customer service experience
  • Good written & oral communications skills
  • History of attention to detail, including time

Requirements:

  • Basic proficiency on PC software (MS Word, Excel preferred)
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work with small parts, tools
  • Vision rated as normal for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to change focus
  • Ability to reach, climb, balance, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, etc. to service medical equipment
  • Hearing within 80-100% of normal range (hearing aid acceptable to attain required range)
  • Able to lift, move 35 – 40 lb.
  • Potential limited exposure to hazardous physical, chemical and/or biological agents
  • Able to provide documentation of current authorization to work in the United States
